Artist Profile: Pots

pots stickersName:
My name is Pots.
East Coast / USA.
How long have you been making stickers?
Ive been making stickers and characters for about 5 months now, lettering for about 7 months.
What inspired you to first start producing stickers?
The first artist that inspired me was Bigs, he was the first sticker artists I ever heard of.
What role would you say stickers play within the greater scope of art?
How they can be put up anywhere at anytime, it can show talent in a lot of artists and anyone can see them and appreciate them, for free.
pots stickersMaterials:
For labels I use USPS labels. As for ink markers I use Bic Markits and Touch Twin Markers. For paint markers I use Decos, Posca, and Molotow.
What are some of your places to put up slaps?
Anywhere where people will see them. No place in particular.
What is the longest one of your slaps has survived in the wild?
4 months at the most. Its a bit soggy, but still up.
Have you had any run-ins with the law due to your stickering?
No, not yet :)
What other artists inspire you?
I don’t really look at too much ‘real’ artists, but for graffiti, Rasko, PSYM, and Semet have inspired me to continue with letters.
pots stickersIs stickering about quantity or quality?
Stickers to me are about quality. Mass producing sloppy stickers doesn’t make your work pop. I want my work to stand out in the streets and in the community. I believe producing quality stickers is the answer.
Do you collect and/or trade slaps with other artists?
I have only been in the game for 5 months. I spent the first 4 developing a nice character that I was proud of and I wanted to get as much feedback as possible. In the past month I have done a few trades. I like to get my work around the globe and especially up in the streets around the world.
Final thought:
I’m trying to improve as much as possible. If anyone has tips or suggestions for me, let me know.
